Sickness & Exclusion
The centre acknowledges that children who are sick are best cared for at home. This also minimises spread of infection to other people. Parents are asked to keep their child at home if they have the following complaints: high temperature (24 hours) diarrhoea (24 hours), cough with mucus, severe skin rash, viral infection, diphtheria, infectious hepatitis, rubella, whooping cough, head lice, discharge from eyes and ear, hand or foot infections, conjunctivitis, vomiting (24 hours), chicken pox, tonsillitis, measles, mumps, cold sores, ring worm, impetigo, scabies.
Report of contagious illnesses will be notified with information about the illness on the door of classrooms. If a child becomes ill at preschool, the child will be separated from the group with a staff member and cared for until the parent or emergency contact person arrives.
